You need to get rid of those Argentinian ants .... something much easier said than done. I use liquid traps to reduce and kill the local colonies. Search "KM ant pro bait station" - I have 8 of those on my property - and could use a bunch more! - good luck, George

We fought the ants when they invaded the house last year, but I was happy to live and let them live in the yard. Will look into the bait stations, thanks, George!

If you have ants, you WILL have aphids; control the ants, you will control the aphids.

I use a product called organocide. It is a very effective organic spray that will smother the aphids and their larvae. It's available at the big box stores like HD. I'd get some and try that, it's VERY effective on my trees.

Thanks! I looked into it, and found that it has a strong fishy smell. I am unable to use things potentially like something a raccoon would eat, as we live next to a creek, and even when i spread chicken or steer manure, it's like we sent out party invites to the critters!
