Quality concern

I bought this rug last summer. I love the design and colors but the pile began to shed immediately. After that it was more flat and 'knobby' (sorry, hard to describe) instead of plush (the way it came). Is this normal? I did call and leave a message with the Houzz customer service rep but never heard back. please advise.
