As long as there is a tub in another bathroom, that's fine.

Julie, I think it depends on how long you plan to keep your home. If this is long-term place for you, then YES. Customize your space, just for you. If you plan on selling anytime soon, though? That could be a deal breaker for a lot of buyers. I'd be one of them.

I'm in the same situation. I haven't used our tub in over 10 years, and we also have three others in the house. However, when I surveyed several friends in the demographic that would be most likely to buy my house down the road, for half of them that would be a deal breaker. So I'm just putting in a small stand alone tub.

No tub, removed our oversized Roman tub & replaced it with a large walkin shower, love it.

To soak or not to soak- a good poll question that I bet's been done. The soaker in my house is my husband. Soft lighting, music playing overhead, candles from Fresh, bubble bath, reading material. The works! It's a relaxing indulgence that he loves.

Bailey R- I do agree on the ridiculously oversized tubs. Our last house- built in the late 80s- had a master bathroom with one. Really hard to fill it without running out of hot water. Installed a tankless heater, and still- hard to keep temperature. In the same bathroom, a very small shower. So I can relate to that one, too.

If you are remodeling to sell, then you need to talk to a Realtor as whether a large luxury shower vs a tub would be a better investment for resale in your neighborhood. If the remodel is for yourself, then do what you want. I'm seeing more of the bathroom space being devoted to larger showers with more bells and whistles and forgoing of the tub.

I doubt you need a fourth tub. Frankly, you need another bath with shower only. Kids do not stay little for long. Most guests.........are NOT little kids.
