I actually like the first inspirational colorful rug, I would pair it with the either the grey or turquoise sofa; I think the indigo is too dark and heavy looking with the dark floors. I would personally go with the turquoise sofa and a different dining room light, your taste seems to lean toward to colorful and fun! :) congratulations on the beautiful new home

i like the indigo, or if you want to go w gray then use orange or some such color to add contrast in small doses like ONE pillow or ONE vase etc ;) .. its a very nice space!

I like the turquoise. I think the orange looks great as well but I'm not a bold color person. Fog colored one is playing it safe. If you choose the fog I'd put a very colorful rug down and use many colorful pillows. Pretty townhouse!

what about the fog sofa, but with the colorful rug you chose for the turquoise sofa?

I agree the indigo is pretty dark with the floors. My choice would be the graywhich is more neutral. Just makes it easier to play with and change lots of accent colors.

I like the turquoise. The grey works but I like what the bold color would do for the space and you can neutralize it with the rug underneath.

i think you may get tired of the turquoise and the color may fall out of style.. the safest bet is a neutral sofa and use accessories to bring in color. The 2nd safest bet is the indigo ;)

The turquoise sofa gives your space nice color. Everything you have currently is gray...cabinets, wall color, and a gray-brown floor. While I love the light gray swatch, it's just too much gray I think. The indigo would be nice also, but with a different rug.

If you choose the grey, you can do lots of different accents with it. Below are just a few samples of our designs for clients. Notice the blue, yellow, orange, and turquoise.

the turquoise - I agree that the Indigo, although a beautiful sofa, is more heavy than the turquoise. The turquoise gives you a lighter feel
and you will have a wider array of both colorful and neutral accessories to
play with.

I have had a
maroon sofa ( on the bright side of maroon) for about 5 years and I never tire
of the color. It works with my cheery, upbeat disposition and it also gives me
room to switch out my accessories with both color and neutral palette.

I just went through a similar dilemma when picking out my sectional. I was trying to choose between a turquoise or light grey. I went with the grey and really regretted it. My friend owns the turquoise and it looks so good in her home with grey walls. With my grey sectional, it looks really blah with the grey walls even though I have a lot of brightly colored accents.

We are having our sectional remade in the turquoise fabric! I can't wait to receive the new one! I would rocommed the turquoise for your space. There isn't enough contrast with your walls and cabinets with the grey. Accents won't be enough to help. The indigo is gorgeous but doesn't work with your space.

I would imagine your friend isn't very happy with your copy cat choice, or is she just flattered?

Think of an investment in a sofa like buying a beautiful black dress - you want the lines and quality to be good and the color "neutral" enough that you can live with it for awhile - AND that gives you lots of opportunity to change your accessories on a whim! So go with the navy and have fun with accessories!

I agree with Kristine. Love the turquoise couch and colorful rug but would look for a different dining room light.

decoenthusiaste - she encouraged me to buy the same turquoise one initially. I declined and told her that I did not want to copy and she assured me over and over that she didn't mind. Then when I received my grey couch and there were problems with the couch (has to be remade due to problems with welting and sections not fitting together), she again offered that she wouldn't care at all if I switched to the turquoise. Thank you for your concern :).

Just wouldn't want a friendship to sour over a stupid couch! Glad you're both happy about the turquoise!

My non-designer opinion is turquoise. I love it!

Turquoise or an off white, there already is a lot of gray in there ( & it has been WAY overdone ) & I think the indigo is too heavy looking.

Thank you everybody for your help! This is my first time posting a question to the Houzz group and everyone was so responsive and helpful.

In addition to design and color palette, I also considered the following things -

1) Fabric Quality - Did a few stain tests myself

2) Value for money - The Indigo was a sunbrella fabric v/s the turquoise which had a solvent based cleaning code.

3) Other design elements I want to pull in considering the open floor plan -you can see the entryway, kitchen, dining anf backyard too from the livig area.

I've finally decided on a fabric very close to the Turquoise called Key Largo Zenith Teal - Though we were getting a better discount with Joybird for the Indigo Sunbrella fabric- The Teal really held up well with the multiple stain tests. We event put some of our dog's hair on both fabrics and since he has white hair it showed much more on the Indigo.

So Teal it is - I am attching a picture here. Thanks to each of you for helping me arrive at this decision.

I love the extent to which you considered all factors-the entryway view, the hair & stain test. please post pics when everything is in place!

Update?? By now you've surely received your sofa and I want to see it and hear how you like it! I ordered an Eliot corner sectional (Taylor Felt Gray) and 2 Eastwood chairs (Cody Pacific) and still have over a month left before they arrive. The wait is killing us!

Thanks for the update!!! I'm glad you love your sofa... it's beautiful! Is that the Hughes? We almost chose the Hughes but were nervous about a tight back sofa for comfort since we couldn't try any of them out.

Melissa, yes you are so right. I've been doubting my selections several times. We ordered in April and won't get the furniture until the end of July (or later if it gets delayed as some reviews state). I'm very drawn to neutrals and forced myself to step outside of my comfort zone so our sectional is neutral but we ordered bold chairs, similar to your sofa color...I'm so nervous I won't like them! I'm also nervous the furniture will look too crowded but my husband insists it will be fine. :) I always second guess myself.

Turquoise would brighten the space and add some color...
