Yes, this fireplace is non-functioning. The mantel is an authentic late 18th century antique, the andirons are real (but the backs were cut off) and the logs are real.

The decorative painting of the fireplace "recess" and "marble surround" was done on a thin piece of plywood which was then secured to the wall. The "marble hearth" was painted on MDF board.
