Being as it's a B. boliviensis type, quite a number of people have experience with those. I bought my first last spring to see how it does. It's just now starting to produce leaves again. The older types of tuberous begonias languish and rot in the heat down here, so I'm impressed already.

I was told by a commerical grower that the 2nd year, the plants (given enough light of course) are much more upright.

Well the upright part sounds true to what mine is doing. My stems are thick and some are standing up and some are falling sideways because they're so long. This will be interesting to see what it develops into. But I'm afraid it won't be as beautiful as last summer. Let me know if you think we should just let them keep growing longer, or clip them off to make them a bit bushier.

I wondered that last year...and someone advised me to pinch. I'd suggest about four to six internodes, then pinch once.

Okay! Will do! I've been itching to do just that! And maybe I'll root the cuttings!
