I think you need more substantial bedside lamps. You could do a collage of prints. I think the eagle should be in a media room of the den, not the bedroom.

Painted plywood to which you attach the headboard might raise it some. Then add larger and more pillows to cover any gap or join that might show.

My advice is to change the structure and type of decoration of this room, you may change your room radically but ending up nos wasting lots of money

First, do you like your bed? If so, what about painting a horizontal stripe about 24" wide just above the the side edge of the bed? Put a shelf above this and hang pics above the shelf.

This bedroom actually, belongs to a client. This IS her furniture and she wants to keep. I need to update the overall style of the room. The eagle picture is out and maybe, just maybe the quilt. The bed and end tables need centered on the wall and I agree she could use more substantial lamps. My real concern is the wall above the headboard.

You are so right in respecting your clients' desire to keep their bed, even when something more substantial could look fabulous with the wonderful high ceilings. If possible, I'd center the bed and nightstands on the wall, and add drapes over the nightstand. Either hung straight or pulled aside, as shown below. You'll want to use 95" length, or maybe 104". Then add a large piece of art or maybe a fabulous circular mirror over the bed (circles look great over arched headboards), or a lovely set of prints like Kelly pictured.

kelly...I was thinking the same thing! The photo is chalkboard paint with a shelf, but you could just paint the large rectangle an accent color instead of the chalk paint. Or, maybe decals above the bed to make the headboard appear larger?

What about a tester canopy behind the headboard to the ceiling, with short side curtains coming down to the floor, giving the illusion of tall posts on the headboard?

Good balance to these rooms for example and you can make an upholstered headboard for about $50 in an hour.
