What else do I need?

I have added a rug under the bed, blue/green, roman shades on both windows, a cream throw on the loveseat, and the dog lol. What else? Should I look for artwork for above the bed? Throw pillows for bed?
Suggestions appreciated!

@Designer Drains, want to find some for me?? Links? This has been a work in progress since Aug 2015 (!)

Could you show the room with the changes? I think that your beautiful bed is too tall for art to be placed above. Maybe art above each lamp?

I will post finished pics. I was thinking art above the bed not necessary as well, since bed is so tall. But want opinions and suggestions if yes.
I don't think I want art above lamps as there are different types of nightstands on either side.

Ok updated window treatments and rug

pictures over bed? Pillows on loveseat and or bed?

    anything else?

pillows! I LOVE to use an accent color that way; very clean looking as it is- one horizontal narrow photo or 2 symmetrical hangings photo/art would do it. Cute dog

Pillows would look great on the bed and on the loveseat. For the bed, I would look for blue pillows to blend with the other blue tones in the room. I cannot tell what color the bedding is, perhaps use that color for the pillows on the loveseat. Also, the lamps seem out of place to me. Perhaps change them out for something more traditional? As far as art, I think it would make the wall too busy. By the way, your dog is very cute! I love dogs!

Pillows definitely, and not just for the look, but use them to be more comfortable in bed while reading or using ur laptop for example. Be careful with colours, to my eyes the room has enough mixture of colours and patterns. No need for more art work.

The ornate headboard ad decorative valances require no pictures; they'd just add visual clutter. The candlestick buffet lamps need replacing with something a bit more substantial, yet not too chunky with the open bottoms of the bedside tables. Yes to a few pillows, but they were not typical in the era of your bed style, so don't go overboard.

I see too many different elements that don't seem cohesive. Valance with reds or burgundies, settee with blues and greens and very traditional, bedding a kind of yellow gold, and a modern rug with a modern design. So, the easiest way to bring this all together is to change the comforter or bedspread and shams and pillows. Let me hunt around and show you some changes that could improve your overall look. bbl

First, I would tie together the color in the settee and with pillows the valance print colors. I used a plain bedspread in the blues you like but it has that nice tucked detailing. Two new interesting metal base lamps for your bedsides. You can bring in some yellow or gold with a throw, and last and I couldn't get this into this mock up, I would change the rug to a more traditional look, with navy blue and perhaps some rust like that color in the valances. I'll see if I can find one. The plain kind of yellow bedspread you have really does nothing for your bed or the traditional theme of your furniture. Hope you didn't just buy that new? ;/ Off to find a different rug. bbl

Something like this. Turned to fit on the end portion of the bed so it runs to under the settee.

Skipped a few posts, sorry, but just wanted to second, or fourth, changing the white of the pillows on the bed to blue. Wouldn't personally do decoratives in addition. They're a nuisance and this is classic. :)

Put a long bolster pillow on the bed in either an ivory or blue that coordinates with the blues you are already using in the room. And I also agree with the other comments to change the lamps to ones that are more substantial. Examples below:

Thank you all for your suggestions! I like the current bedding, and rug with the window treatments. It is hard to tell in the pictures but the yellow/gold of the coverlet matches perfectly with yellow in the fabric. These pics might be better. And the decorative stitching is the same shape of the design of the fabric in the window treatments. I am not a pillow person, but I agree that I need to add pillows. I love the idea of a single long pillow or perhaps a lumbar pillow. On the hunt for pillows

You are welcome and you can get the "filler" for a lumbar pillow at most fabric stores, then they or you could make a cover for it from any material you like.

Yes pillows! But importantly add texture.

A faux fur throw (to complement the real fur on the pup!), quilted blanket, wicker baskets, just a few ideas. I think varying textures will really bring the space together the way you're looking for it to.

Also, I'm a big fan of PLANTS! They add life, texture and a literal breath of fresh air.

Thanks all for the compliments on my dog. He is the best accessory to the room. Shameless plug: rescue dogs are the best! He has his idiosyncrasies, but by far the smartest dog we have ever had. And he adores our granddaughter.

he says 'don't even get him started'! lol

Cute dog is that a schnauzer mix

@zakth he is a rescue. He and his sister were dropped off at a shelter at night after hours. So no history. Probably has schnauzer in him. If you google aussiedoodles, he bears a striking resemblance

Hey all. My hubs swapped the lamp on his side of the bed (left) for a study desk lamp since he reads in bed. I am thinking of replacing my lamp with this, I love it:

    Will that be too unbalanced?
