I'm not sure about the technical differences, but I've never seen a microlife product fail to impress--Their stuff is awesome. It's probably more money than the Medina but it's also made locally so I don't mind the upcharge. I just put down the granular version of humates plus & have another bag in the truck for a follow up

Thx, appreciate your thought

Medina Soil Activator has some very specific micronutrient chemicals in it. Magnesium chloride is use to increase the magnesium numbers of the soil. WHEN IT IS NEEDED it can improve greening. When it is not needed it can cause your soil to act like clay. It becomes hard, impenetrable, and become gummy when wet. You could get the same effect by using Epsom salts when it is not needed. Only a good soil test can tell you if you need more magnesium. Ferrous sulfate is used to improve greening by increasing iron. In an environment with relatively low pH soils, it works. In high pH soils like Texas has, it doesn't work. The iron binds with the calcium before it becomes available to the plants. The sulfate is supposed to lower the pH, but when you're putting it on pure limestone, it doesn't work. Zinc chloride is another greening product.

I live in Medina country. While I like to use local products, I cannot bring myself to use theirs. They pretend to be organic, but only a very few of their products are actually organic. The rest are pure chemical products.

My ph test level shows 7.5 and I live in houston. Got the test kit from Ace hardware. Are they pretty accurate?

Those are not very accurate. Mine was off by 0.8 versus the Logan Labs soil test.

It's really telling you the ph of the water more than the soil. Besides, like DC said you can't change the soil ph here without massive quantities on acidic amendments. Even if you managed to shift it, it would bounce right back pretty quick. Ask anybody who lives around here & has an aquarium.
