My vote is for the drum shade - color and shape are much better for the lamp.

I like the trim...it gives a cleaner look

1 more for the drum, more contemporary

I happen to like both and either one would work. It just depends on what look you are going for.

The drum looks better, more updated....

This link has helped me recently when shopping for some new shades. See what you think. For some reason the shape and size of the first shade seems to be a better fit (but without the gold trim). However, I like the color of the drum better.

The drum shade is a better option.

The drum shade, no doubt!!

I have to admit the shades I bought were all drums.

Empire

No gold trim on the shade.

Empire without the trim, seems to suit lamp better

Okay...now I'm really confused

I love the drum shade! What is so nice about it is....if down the road the trend changes you have a lamp shade to switch it out! Win win...enjoy the drum shade for now:))

Another vote for the drum shade.

I guess for every beautiful empire shade photo, one can find an equally beautiful drum shade photo. So I guess Julie has the right idea. Why choose? For now, change is good and I'll swap it out for the drum. There is a reason I bought a new lamp shade in the first place, right? Thanks for helping out.

Kathi, I could now possibly write a book about my experience with lamp shades. OMG...lots of mistakes over time but lots of learning, too.

@Chloebud Do tell! I love lamps. My fiancé bugs me all the time about the "500 lamps" we're going to have when we get married and he only owns 2 (really bad ones at that!)

LOL, Kathi...the men in my family are clueless about lamps! Not long ago I ordered this one from Birch Lane. I love it but the shade was quite a bit darker than it appears in this photo. I changed it with the same shape and size. Just lighter and something that looks better with the base IMO.

It seems both shades could work well for you. It depends on your style. Here are two lamps below to look at to help you make a decision:

Thank you, Angelica. I think I decided to keep both and change them out as needed!

Kathi, keeping them both sounds good to me. I've done that with more than one lamp in our house. :)

Can you tell me where the lamps are from? I really lie them

Target online. But wait for a sale. I got them for a really good price. Can't remember exactly what I paid, but even with the US to Canadian dollar exchange I think it was $120 for the pair!
