I have not used this exact cooktop but I have used induction before and it is amazing - very even cooking and very fast - boils water in 90 seconds. I am renovating my kitchen and plan to put this in. Yes it is quite a bit pricier that other induction cooktops but it is the only model on the market that the entire surface is usable - others just have burner circles and are limited to that. For example, this cooktop will allow you to use a large griddle pan across the surface which allows for much more even heat rather than just cooking where the burners are . Thermador was the first company to come out with induction cooktops and sort of pioneered the process. I highly recommend this even for the price.

I, too, am remodeling and really like this but was hoping for a 30". Does anyone know of anything comparable out there in that size? Have you installed yours yet?

I just saw this at Atherton Appliance and it's amazing! You can move the pot anywhere and it will work. It's also amazingly fast. I think it boiled water in 2 minutes or less. I'm sold! I just wish it looked a little more modern. The bevelled edge isn't as clean as I'd like. Before this I was considering the Wolf induction cooktop that could be embedded into the counter. The coolness factor of this stovetop is mind blowing, I can over look the bumpiness.

Thermador doesn't offer a 30" version of this yet, but they do offer a 36" all black glass model now that can be installed flush with now stainless steel side trims. The salesperson at Atherton Appliance & Kitchens says they are getting one on display soon.
