How to keep leaves small

I was reading through the posts the other night and I came across this question but I can't find it anymore and I don't remember who brought it up so I'll just share my unintended findings here.

Cutting off the big leaves or cutting leaves in half or pruning do not make adenium leaves grow smaller. What does work is growing them hard. This below is 4 years old, grown from seed, shown here with pen and normal leaf from another plant for scale.

The only thing this one gets a lot of is sunlight: full sun all day outdoors, watered only when it rains or when I feel sorry for it.I wasn't really after small leaves, I just wanted to keep this as compact as possible. That entire batch was grown that way and they all stayed compact with similarly-sized leaves (about an inch to an inch and a half long.
