Could you show a photo of the FP wall? Also, if you could provide a floor plan with dimensions, windows, doors, etc...there a lot of fab space planners here on Houzz. I'm confused where your stairs are and is that a window to the right of the FP??

Agree, I can't quite figure out what you are saying.

Here are more pictures. The stairs are behind the wall in the first picture i posted above. There are two flights, one coming up from the bottom floor which is on the left side behind the wall and one going up to the next floor on the right next to the powder room.

Most TVs set above a fireplace are going to be too high for good viewing. A tilting mount can angle the TV downward to make viewing more comfortable, but tilting should be limited to 10º. Ideally, the horizontal middle of the TV should be at eye-level of the seated viewer.

In order to mount a TV you must find the studs inside the wall. The mounting plate must be attached into the studs to hold the weight. Before doing this you should set the TV on a table or cabinet to see whether glare from windows is a problem. Check for this throughout the day, but also consider whether lower-angled winter sun is likely to cause a problem. I can see sunlight on the wall next to the kitchen, but I can't tell where it is coming from.

If I understood you correctly, the fireplace is closer to your dining table. Therefore your couch and chairs are going to be off-center of the fireplace. To me that means your TV is more likely to be the focal point of your seating area. If you haven't bought your furniture yet, I recommend you use a loveseat and chairs instead of a couch. Chairs, especially, allow rearrangement according to need. They can square with the loveseat for conversation or be angled to view the TV.
