ridiculous comes to mind, and no one can appreciate a painting sitting on the floor, that is just really dumb. Strolling through an antique store is also much like this home.

That's one of the things I like abut layered rooms - you find/discover things in them as your eyes wander around the room

I once hung a picture for a friend that was near the flr, it worked perfectly w/the pieces around it.

Not being a dog lover, that bedroom is a nightmare for me! Some of the other art is wonderful, though; I don't mind the pieces on the floor...actually when you are seated, they are probably more viewable than many of those hung on the walls.

I do love the framed mirror hung on the wall of mirror. What a great idea to update that feature.

I've got paintings propped on the floor of my library, and they've been there for close to two years. It's not that I'm considering selling them, but I have no more wall space and just refuse to hide them away. It's not "really dumb" at all; it's just something that most people aren't used to seeing.

I actually like these rooms. I'm not much of a dog person either, but can appreciate the collection. The one thing that really catches my eye is the relic of a TV, making me think that these photos are a number of years old. I don't know of anyone who still owns something like that; even my elderly inlaws finally pitched theirs and bought a 21st century telly.

Love it! If I was lucky enough to inherit this abode, I wouldn't change a single thing. Then I would hire a full time maid to clean and dust every day. Magnificent!

A friend thought the same. but I pointed out, the 'fat back' TV is way more stable on that particular piece of furniture in that particular spot than a flatscreen w/o rigging up something to keep it from tipping.

Plus he can keep the cable(?) box on top.

BTW, my flatscreen is on a stand between two rooms - I thought I secured it well enough to the base until I found it broken on the flr 3 days after buying due to the cats

As general rooms, again, I mostly like all of it. Specifically though in bedrooms, I like a bedside table with space on it and a dresser with space on it. That said I have a two big birds on my bedside table--on the far side from the bed.

(I wonder if these bedside tables are normally kept more clear for function but were dressed up like the others for the photos because they looked funny empty).

They could be older pictures but in my daily look at real estate, I see a surprising number of old tube TVs especially in bedrooms or other lesser used daytime rooms. We had a conventional tube TV in the bedroom until 2011 when we moved, and we trash picked that one. TV isn't that important to us that we need the latest technology. The funniest thing I see in real estate is Old console TVs, from the 1960s to the 1980s (By which point they were mostly TVs with woodgrain particleboard sides on them making a stand) --with a flat screen TV on top of it, so the old TV is being used as a table. And actually one of my clients who isn't that old (50s) has a couple of tube TVs... in the guest room and in the basement.

I do wish he had incorporated the tv better maybe a cabinet or something but overall lovely in that antiquey, I'm a royal, kind of way.

Actually if I recall correctly Bunny Williams is Anti hiding the TV and has said the way to make sure you don't have a living room that no one goes in is to put a TV in there.

He OWNS an antique store, and probably has some of his stock at home.

So I can put the TV in my living room? I've been making my DH watch in the chilly sun room. :o)

Despite all the sophisticated decor, it looks like someone's home where they actually live, (with hired help) rather than something set up to be photographed for a magazine.

I enjoy the walls/art; in general -- and here -- covered horizontal surfaces make me very claustrophobic.

I have family with the latter so know it's an IRL reaction, not just a virtual one.

Overall very nice for someone who loves art and antiques and has the money to afford things of this caliber. Like the dining room and red bedroom and some other things, it's not all shiny and spiffy as though prepared for the photographer (even though it must have been to some extent).

I like tv too but don't think they have to stand out in such a discordant way.

Love all of it. I've been fascinated for a while with hanging art or mirrors on mirrored walls. Wondering about the cross on the mantle. Surely there's a really cool story about it.

Even without knowing the identity of the owner, one would suspect this is the home of an avid collector. While I don't share his particular loves, except for the blue and white porcelains, it's fascinating to see his rooms. I'm so tired of seeing rooms where all of the personality has been stripped out in order to make them magazine-spread worthy.

I rather quite like it, except maybe the red painted bedroom~I need relaxing! Everything seems very well placed which is what makes it work, yet doesn't look contrived. Too much 'stuff' or colletions spread sporadicaly thruout a room can sometimes look 'junky' and nothing stands out. It's definitely a room which brings out the personality of the homeowner(I hope!). The one thing I do NOT care for is the cross on the mantle. Seems out of place to me personally.

I'm a klutz. I guarantee every time I would go by the fireplace I'd trip and knock the painting over. LOL!

I didn't include the pic, but the cross make a bit more sense when you see he also has art icons in the room

I like these rooms just fine. My main issue with the prior set was the chair that was blocking the (clearly used) door. In these sets, I don't like the painting in the hearth because in a place like this the fireplace is begging to be used (except maybe it's summer). It has a lived in, I can't be bothered to stage for photographers look (complete with the crooked candle on the server)

    I love the icons!

I really like most of the rooms. It's not my style, but I can appreciate it from afar, esp. his colors. If it were mine, I'd replace all the dogs with cats.

Love it. Beautiful objects. Tasteful, collected, and a lifetime of experiences.

I would enjoy walking around the home looking at the collections. I like the fact that there are chairs that one can sit in and be comfortable.

    I want these!

And, I wouldn't turn down a few of these either. I love doggies.

Oh those bedrooms make me want to jump right in the bed! So welcoming and beautiful.

Since I have a phobia of dogs, those rooms would also give me nightmares. Don't like the icons or cross and especially do not like the "layered" look - that is just another term for overly cluttered. The rest of it I mainly like, but it needs a lot of editing to make it feel comfortable or welcoming to me. Clutter is okay in a store but not in a residence IMO. I lived like that when I was in my 20s in San Francisco, but I've moved on. (I had roommates who were antique dealers and artists.)

I see his NY showroom is in the same building (D&D) as ours.

I find it eminently comfortable and could easily live there. I do not have that feeling about many layered rooms, but the "clutter" here must just be more to my liking. Other than the wall color (I am red-phobic), I absolutely adore the dog bedroom. I agree that it looks lived-in and not pretentious or staged. I just think the entire place is wonderful. I would very much like to meet Mr. Rossellini-I suspect I would like him a lot!
