A large piece of artwork, preferably colorful, would fit well in that space. I'm not sure I like the idea of a colorful piece of art. I like the idea of this but something other than wine. Maybe a smaller clock with some other decor.

oh wow Stephc - your photos of adjacent spaces show that you have several areas where you can make the space YOU> the contributors above have given you a taste of what is out there!

I am encouraging you to spend some time browsing sites for artwork - really try to FEEL your reaction to the art you see and then TRUST your gut.

Several walls would benefit from art. Go for it!

Before I would buy a thing, I would try that "buffet"? under the window and move the dining table under the light fixture. Probably change out the light fixture and then, look for a oversize piece of art for the wall where the buffet was moved from. A couple of nice accessories on the buffet to maintain the view would be nice. Perhaps some colored glass pieces. Tall, but not blocking too much. It would be best if you can, to sell your current table and chairs since they don't seem to coordinate with other furnishings I can see and get a round table that would seat 6-8 with nice upholstered chairs. No clocks are needed in a space where you eat. Makes guests think you are "watching the clock" and just doesn't sit right with most people. If you feel you need a clock invest in an antique one that has some character. A rug would help the overall space as well, but it depends on whether you have young children that eat in this space or not.

As everyone seems to have said, the space would look wonderful with some artwork. Refer to our designs included here for some more help.
