If people are posting their good junk in other forums, it's because they want more people to see their stuff. We should invite them to post here. I'd love to see this forum revived and you're one of the posters I look for here!

I'm here, but I don't have much good junk. I think there's a thread on my in-progress Fairy Garden, and another one about the obelisk my dh built.

I don't know if this counts as junk, but it was sold as a small barn "robins' nesting shelf." It is so small a robin would need a shoe horn and grease to wedge itself in there, and there would be no room left for a nest, eggs, or chicks.

It was on clearance for $1 so I grabbed it.

I cut a piece of luan and shaped it to close in the open front of the "shelf." I then cut a wren-size hole (1-1/8") and stuck the shelf/nest box on top of a vine support rod.

The vine twined all around inside the box and poked blossoms out of the entry. It's almost as cute as a box full of baby wrens!

You can't tell from this photo, but the roof is metal and there's a horse-shaped weathervane on top.

I still have it, but it needs a new front wall and entry hole.

It's not so cute now, here at The Little House of Horrors on the Prairie. :)

It has weathered over the last 14 years; I still have not replaced the "front door"; and it is currently on a 50" tall stump in the back yard.

When we hacked off this seedling tree, I wanted the stump left tall. I attached the nest box to the top of the stump and waited for new branches to sprout at the top of the stump. They did, and I began training them into a large circle/halo about 24" in diameter.

It was looking cute until the stump died from having to deal with two male dogs. :(

I think I'll spiff up the nestbox, put it on a shorter pole, and add it to the Hosta Garden somewhere near the Fairy Garden pedestal.

caroline94535, I love your bird barn even with the missing front. It looks cute atop that stump too even in its rustic shape. I'd be happy just leaving it like that!

Love the bird barn, maybe you could add a shade loving plant to spill out the doorway, perhaps a small hosta?

I am so glad to see more people show up after years of nothing, thanks to Houzz. I tried, but their pop ups drive me crazy.

I recently started making miniature and fairy garden and am hooked. Was hoping to find a miniature forum or fairy garden forum here. I have tons of ideas but need tons more, and who doesn'tt like pictures? Anyway glad to see Y'all.

cotytransplant, Caloline and I both are doing fairy gardens. I just put mine together yesterday for now. Might need to move things around a little bit. I actually have two fairy gardens. One in a wheelbarrow and one in a long low planter. I will add it when I get photos. If you start a thread about Fairy gardens we can all post ours to it. I do not know of a separate forum for them.

Hi Joan. This will be great to have a Fairy thread to post in. I will get photos tomorrow. not sure mine will stay as it is. I am still planting and thinking painting. It will all be good Fairys move around in their gardens right? I was inside to eat heading back to start some more painting for the back patio planter buckets. UGH I am so tired tonight. Gaining on it. Slowly. And I just had a brain storm. I might totally move the one fairy garden to another container since I did end up planting it and not just big pots in it. Hummmm

citytransplant(zone5), I downloaded free Ad Block to save my sanity. I no longer get the annoying pop ups or flashy moving ads at some sites.

I look forward to seeing everyone's fairy gardens!
