Hummingbird Garden

Tango Hummingbird Mint care

Hi! Creating my first hummingbird garden and will be growing tango hummingbird mint in a sheltered yet sunny location. It's in a bed that I tarp in winter because it;s close to salt and sand from a stairway. How far do I, or can I cut it back to tarp it? If it needs to be free standing, I'll plant it in another spot. Thanks everyone!

I have grown Agastache and the hummers loved it. However it didn't live but 3 years in my humid, hot Georgia summers. Not sure how it would like being covered up in the winter. Also, I can't really remember whether it died completely back after freezing.
