So the main concept to take away from this layout is splitting the room into two areas. Not sure why your cable outlet can't go where you want it? I assume the suggestion for putting it on the wall to the left is so that you can see it from the kitchen. IMO, the right side works better for a seating arrangement because you don't have to allow room to get to the sliders. And you could be the tv on an arm so you could see it from the kitchen. As you said, the room is on the narrow side. Whatever you decide, this can be flip flopped. So not knowing your needs, you could have one side be for computer/gaming. The other tv/entertaining. You could have two sofas back to back, etc.

Thanks, Nancy! I sorta came up with this...(see attached) I agree - the other side would be much better. The problem is, they won't move the cable at this point (rough electrical only?.. ugh..big builder..they charge a fee to "consider change orders"). Also- I like the desk idea, but I will have my office in the basement. I had imagined a small sitting area. Seasonally, I could remove the small coffee table and put a xmas tree in that place.
