Need help identifying rodent.

I
need some help identifying this rodent. Dayton Mt. It's about 4-5"
long, the size of a large tennis ball. No ears. It eats with his head
down, fills it's pouch then runs under a rock, empties and starts over
again. Tail is longer than a vole. Obviously not nocturnal. I do have voles in my area but they are typical in color and size. Anyone?
