If the window is on the front of the house you have to be careful when changing sizes because it could offset symmetry with other windows. Other than that if you plan to use whatever on top of it, just make sure to account for the overall height dimension of the seat.

Also if you have small children I would consider getting a window with a tempered glass just for safety reasons.

In order for a window seat to look/feel sensational, you need a dormer, or a generous bay window, or box bay.

The second issue with them is they need to be deep enough to be comfortable, they need a three or four inch cushion medium density foam with wrap cushion , and a seat depth not less than 20/22 inches.. Otherwise, nobody, not even kids, actually sits in them or reads in them. It's a look. If bound to do it, make the seat top no higher than 15", and 20" or 22" in depth , and put a very plush 4" cushion atop it. I'd want this or nothing..... second photo as a grown up: ) Otherwise give me a comfy chair and ottoman.....
