2015, 2016, versus 2017 growlists
This is my first time posting in this forum, I'm usually on the roses forum. This is also my third year growing tomatoes and am excited to branch into vegetables from decades with ornamentals. The first section of my tomato list below are mostly favorites from previous years. Black check marks means the starts have already been planted in the ground. I'm still undecided about the second section "Maybes," and probably need to reduce it by half. I tend to dry-farm my tomatoes in clay soil, which some varieties really resent. It's interesting comparing the three years of growlists and seeing which ones I kept. I really like Paul Robeson, but after two great consecutive years, am rotating it out to 2019. Pink Brandywine, whether Sudduth's/grafted/or generic, grow huge vines here and produce by the bushels. I always have one around because it's easy and serves as a litmus for flavor comparisons. They're tasty, but not the best, if anything I consider Brandywine the bare minimum for acceptable flavor in a home grown tomato. I'm curious what criteria other gardeners on this forum use to determine permanent favorites?
