commercial manure? Black Kow is probably the best. Homedepot, Lowes and Walmart sells them. saw them at Walmart for under 4 bucks for a 50lb bag.

overall any type of manure would work though.. keep in mind you'll also need some type of fertilizer to supply the nitrogen as manure (horse/cow) only supplies the micro nutrients.

Yeah, tomato does not require any special manure.

Also, I use manure and compost mostly as soil amendment. I cannot trust my plants just solely on manure.

I buy my horse manure from an old timer down the road which is composted at least two years... the straw and turds are all pretty much decomposed by the time I get it. Pretty much looks like a really rich soil. I like buying it from him as I know he does not use herbicides and for some reason, it contains little weed seeds. $20 gets me a big trailer load of three bobcat bucketfuls. I found him on Craigslist.

In Atlanta, (near where I used to garden ) there was a place that they took care of horses. One year I went there asking for manure. They showed me a big pile and said take as much as you want. And I did take couple of truck loads of it.That was an excellent amendment for clay soil.
