I think your counters are a little lighter than this picture. Also this kitchen has more windows. I'm not sure that leather gray might be too dark in your kitchen because of the natural light issues. Maybe you should try and get a big sample and put it on the counters and look at it in all different lights.

Thanks. The previous countertops were a dark brown with cream cabinets and they didn't look bad. The floors were a neutral color though.

theres more lighting in the room than you see in that picture- the front door is off camera to the left, side door and a big bay window is off to the right. And with the kitchen being open to the living area, there are 3 8ft windows opposite of the kitchen.

No no one around here has big samples of the Leathered Steel Grey... with thousands of people in my area dealing with flooded homes, there's not enough samples to go around!

Remember most "views" are of edges of countertop so the island will be the main look of the countertop. I think you can do it with proper lighting and it will be beautiful.

Sounds like a good plan! I have had steel gray leathered granite for a year now and am very happy with the look and durability. I agree that the faucet you picked will look better with the granite than ORB. I have champagne bronze and it is a nice contrast as well.

I would select a different faucet with brushed nickel. Or do the black finish. that particular faucet I wouldn't trust to last given what looks like a rubber hose part and the whole thing doesn't look real good quality? You want a decent quality in your kitchen sink faucet. Delta or Moen are good quality. Just make sure they have brass fittings. You probably know all this, so if you have checked that faucet out, then it will look great. I prefer the Leather finish in game rooms and bar areas better than kitchens, but it is a kind of personal choice. Just pick a faucet with chrome, or brushed nickel or stainless finish. No ORB for this kitchen. Also, pick the hardware for your cabinets that works with the faucet. I would do the brushed nickel door/drawer pulls. Some people avoid straight bars because they catch on clothing, so that is just a little tip on those. I love the look of them though, especially with your beefy range and hood. Going to be very nice. Sorry you have been through flooding. Terrible especially when everyone is vying for the same contractors and there can be many who are less than reliable. Good luck!

The faucet is a Brizo... Deltas higher end brand. Much more solid than anything I saw at the big box stores.

Countertops have been ordered and will be installed in just a couple weeks.

looking to put a couple of open shelves on either side of the range, since there will be no upper cabinets on that side. I've always liked the look of live edged wood, whether it be tables or shelves. Wondering if that would look out of place in a kitchen that won't have really any other rustic features...

Without any other wood or rustic features, it could be a stretch, but perhaps you could get a piece and hold it up, take photos, and see what you think. I like mixing materials, as long as they make sense to my and my client's eye. My main concern would be getting a finish that would hold up to kitchen grease, cleaning products, dust, etc.

Love the choices. I'm also doing a kitchen renovation and was eyeing the 36" black tecnogas. Would you mind sharing your experience with it? Would you recommend it? Have you experienced any issues/problems?

rkcallen - We just purchased a Technogas Superiore range in Panoramic, although since ours is only a 30" (due to space constraints), unfortunately we didn't have color options. We haven't installed ours yet, and was wondering if you did purchase one and if so what your experience has been with it thus far.
