Just gut renovated our master bathroom and our shower floor
is pooling water. When contractor
finished, the shower floor was sloping towards the center, which is great if
you have a center drain. However, our
drain is at the wall (see picture).

Our contractor said his tile guy
would fix it. Though all he did was
raise a few areas in center of the floor. If you look at the picture, the line where the wall meets the floor is slanted down, then slopes up, then back down. It looks horrible. Plus, we ran the shower and it’s still pooling water in one area of floor.

Rather than own up to his mistake, our contractor
claims that shower floors are not like bathtubs and some water pooling is
normal and that the way we chose to lay the tile is part of the problem that’s
preventing the water from reaching the drain.
Is this BS?

We now have 2 options: he said he can raise the floor in the
2 areas where water pooling is still occurring.
Or, he said we can buy new tile and he’ll rip up the floor and lay down
the new tile, both free of charge, except that we would have to buy the new
tile. My wife is pretty pissed, saying
the contractor should own up to his mistake and buy the new tile himself. I’m just worried if we try to fix the two
areas where the water is still pooling, it could offset the floor somewhere
else and we would still end up with water that’s not draining.

What should we do?!?!
