Although it has been very wet regionally (>40" in Portland since 1 October), it is more likely your strawberry leaves are showing cold-weather damage. If new growth is yellowish, perhaps nutrients were washed out of the potting mix and need replenishing.

Strawberries that have been through a winter always have tatty old leaves on them. Its normal. You can trim them off. But they also look a bit soggy.

I removed the old brown leaves. These are getting worse. The soil is super soggy. I wonder if they can survive until we are done with all this rain? The roots look pretty gross.

Why not just take the liners and plants out for a while? Set them on the ground so they can dry out some. I was looking at the link and I see that the liners don't completely enclose around the rootballs but at this point if you don't do something those strawberries are going to drown.

And as to a long term solution, I was thinking you could buy some corks at a homebrew store (or online) and then drill one hole the diameter of a cork into the bottom of each container. The hole would would provide the drainage necessary in the winter and during summer you could plug the hole with a cork to use it as intended as a self watering planter. Hopefully that made sense. It'd be a bit of a pain in the rear for sure but it's better than nothing.

Hi theforgottenone1013, the way the liners are designed means that taking them out will spill and dislodge a lot of the dirt. Not sure that will work. I had the same idea for the corks, so I bought some rubber ones. Thanks for confirming that may be a good option.
