Drapes help and overall help.

Hi everyone. Here are a few pictures of our living room and dining room, which is an open floor plan. In total we have seven windows that have drapes on them - two in the dining room, then five in the living room. I don't like the drape color (and I know they aren't hung properly), but I am having a hard time finding something that works and is affordable. I also wanted to know if you thought I could have one color drape in the living room and a different color in the family room. Our walls are revere pewter in both the living room and dining room. Any other ideas would be appreciated. We originally thought we'd do purple as an accent color, but I'm a bit sick of it and am open to ideas.

If the rooms are open to one another, it's best to keep the same design / color for drapery.

Okay thanks. I appreciate that. Do you have any color suggestions? It just seems so bland with the off-white

What about using the rug under the dining table in the living room? I'd try turning the dining table and getting a rug that is 4' wider and 4' longer than the table top for your dining room. The one you have is skimpy on the ends. Use the colors in the rugs for determining the drape and accent color - you have the blue in the kitchen already. Do you want to go that direction? Since all is open you are going to have to consider the kitchen in your design statement. I'd suggest you paint the cabinetry there to match the bookcases and trim elsewhere and then do a darker gray then RP on the kitchen walls. This will open up drape and accent options.

Great space.....yes, keep all the drapes the same, I like the off white......great suggestions to paint the kitchen walls a darker shade of gray and maybe think about using the same dark shade on the inside backs of the bookcases........add two white upholstered end chairs at the diining room table.to soften that area.....pull in your color w/art and accessories...........can't tell much about your sofa area, but two large fat round lamps would look good and soften all the angles..........good luck.

Another option if you would like to have them look a bit different, is to have relaxed roman shades in dining room, and drapes in living room. Do both in an off white linen. This would also keep them away from the baseboard heater in dining room under windows.

Sorry just noticed you thought off white bland. You could do the same idea in a print, but that would be custom work and much more expensive.
