It's a common misunderstanding but your zone has absolutely nothing to do with how hot it gets in summer or how well any plant can be expected to perform in hot weather. It is ONLY a reflection of the average minimum cold temperature you can expect in winter and if a plant can survive those lows. As an example, I am located in a similar zone - possibly even slightly milder in winter - yet there is nothing hot about my summers !!

Kiwis are very heat tolerant so no reason to expect they can't be grown in your climate, provided soil conditions like pH are appropriate and you can supply enough water to get the plants established and then sufficiently hydrated during your hot summers. Although it takes awhile for the vines to become mature enough to bloom, late spring frosts (if they are common to your area) can damage flowering, which in turn can impact fruit production.

ETA: if you search through the archives on teh Texas Gardening forum, you will turn up several threads addressing growing kiwis in TX. They might be helpful for more localized advice.
