I see where HMF has the two as synonyms, but that doesn't make any sense to me.

The first time I saw "Sam Tucker" I asked on what was the old GardenWeb Roses forum, and men in California who knew Sam Tucker mentioned the rose introduced fairly recently to honor their friend.

Maybe things have changed, but at the time, I don't think Sam Tucker was called a Noisette.

I honestly don't know. I bought it as Solfaterre. When I was researching it I saw it was also listed as Sam Tucker.

I really like this rose! Mine is in some shade and doesn't get much water or attention in the back of he yard. Even with neglect it has stayed perfectly clean hadn't defoliated when others did. It has produced some blooms. I think he would bloom a lot more if I gave it more attention (which I keep promising myself I will)

The canes are thin, long and flexible. There aren't a lot of thorns but the ones it has catch me by surprise and are nasty.

I have been very happy with this rose and plan on giving it a big trellis to cover. I think you'll love it!

What a beauty! I love seeing lovely roses here that one doesn't see mentioned very often.

Suncoastfliwers, I hope you will add more pics to HMF. Perma that goes same to you...lol. You are right not much mentioned about it but so far I love what it says.....Strong fragrance and blooms throughout the season. It says it is small clusters so how big are the blooms ?

I read that one, too, Jin! I thought it was so charming, and how clever the writing style. And very interesting that he cited Solfaterre as a good rootstock. There must be some good vigor there, and it must be fairly easy to bud to. I love these old articles! :-).

I will post pics when it blooms. I planted it two years ago as a band. I think it's "creeping". I am hoping for some leaping soon! Plus I really do promise to water and feed it better. :)
