Need help with weed ID/control

Hey all.

I have Tifway 419 at my home. I need help with identifying this particular weed. I spread Hi-Yield pre emergent about 4 weeks ago at 6 lbs per 1000 sq ft. I spot treated a few areas a week prior to that with Speedzone and then hand pulled a bunch of stuff that that it didn't knock out. Out of nowhere this stuff starting sprouting up and it is taking over. Any ideas on what it is/anything I can do? Thanks

Well, if it came through the pre-emergent then it's a perennial. I think it's dallisgrass, maybe the warm season folks will chime in with their id's and treatment options. I know MSMA is highly effective against dallisgrass, but it's no longer available for use on home lawns.

Thanks for the response. Anyone else have any ideas? It grows pretty rapidly as well.

Looks like Dallis grass ... rhizome-making perennial so it's not a pushover to kill.

One way to do it in is let it grow out a bit, then PAINT the blades in the clump with generic glyphosate concentrate and a foam brush, or thoroughly spot-spray just the middle of the clump and the blades with diluted glyphosate.

Thanks for the responses so far. So a local turf care place looked at a sample I brought and said that it was a type of Poa. It is literally everywhere now. What should I do? Should I keep it mowed? Hand pull it? When I hand pulled it previously, I feel like it came back a week later. Where is it coming from?

If you hand pull it make sure to used some kind of hand pick/spade.Hit right behind the weed and it will pull up easier.If you just hand pull it theres a good chance you will leave some of it and it will come back.Also doing it this way aerates your tifway, which warm season grasses love.
