Agreed! Pottery Barn has the best examples, classic, transitional styles that never seem to go out of style. :) And if you can't afford the brand, at least you can get ideas there and shop for similar items online. Home Depot and Lowes have some great options, especially online. Schoolhouse style lights go well with pretty much any decor. Have fun!

It is very difficult, maybe impossible, to find over-the-mirror lighting that looks even half way decent. Most is just plain ugly.

For a more timeless look go with sconces for each side of the mirror. In some cases you can add sconces on the mirror itself.

With the lights above the mirror, use LED bulbs in a natural light bulb. (The three primary types of color temperature for light bulbs are: SoftWhite (2700K – 3000K), Bright White/Cool White (3500K – 4100K), and Daylight (5000K – 6500K). The higher the Degrees Kelvin, the whiter the color temperature.) The cool white & daylight are better for putting on makeup and it is closer to natural color. 2 examples below. Great job so far! It would look fantastic if you could continue the tile across the wall behind the vanity and up to the ceiling--basically that whole wall.
