The sprouts are what the “eyes” became. I agree with maifleur01; the exposed root from the last picture should be buried when you put them in the ground next week.

Thank you both for helping. I lifted up the last peony since it was planted upside down to reverse it. Now the big shoot is planted lying down and other shoots are buried. Will that be ok? The bulbs that i have seen for reference, none looks like the one i have.

The shoots will straighten after they have been in sunlight for a while. Try to make the roots point down and the shoots point up. If they had been in the ground the shoots, called buds before they are this advanced, would have been underground. The ones that are white and not expanded are fine to go underground with a light covering of soil.

As long as they're in the pots you'll want to put them in a shadier spot than peonies normally want, somewhere they get some morning sun while it's still cool. Good luck with your new peonies, you'll certainly love the flowers!
