Night Critter messed with my seedlings

I had put the egg carton with my 6 precious seedlings on a 4 foot table/shelf to keep out of my hot greenhouse and the next morning my DH saw pots kncked off the table :( When I went over to investigate, I noticed the smallest one (just getting it's second set of leaves) was bent over:( I kind of re planted it, but it looked like hardly any roots. I hope it makes it. It was the runt of the litter and the only one that was still all green.

I have a rat terrier, so I have to put all potted plants up high (he loves chewing plastic anything), and I'm so glad that I had put the egg carton in the middle of some of the smaller 4 inch pots. I'm sure I should wait to transplant that one. The rest look to be ok and the 1 month mark (they turn a month old) will be April 1.....no fooling!

Just stick it back in its pot and wish for a little luck. I had a 1 month old seedling that broke in two. I unearthed the roots a few days ago (a year after the accident) and it had nice fat roots growing out of the bottom.

Wow...I just read that :) I straightened him back up and kind of gently tapped down the soil around him when I found him bent over. I had just noticed hardly any roots, but after reading some other stories of things happening to seedlings, there's hope then for the little runt!

Well, Runt didn't not survive whatever stomped on him that night :(

This was taken about a week ago...

and now :(

So....I have the 5 seedlings left and need to transplant them.

My questions are....

How do I get them out of the egg carton without disrupting them?

Do I keep the same soil (seed starting mix) around them and just transplant to a grittier mix?

Adeniums are pretty hardy, so as long as they have a few sets of leaves, it would probably be okay to take them out of the soil.

You can just take them out and transport to a grittier mix too. People like washing off the roots when they repot, especially on mature plants, but it isn't technically necessary, although they are nutritional reasons to do it, as well as to check on the progress of the caudex underground.
