Sunburn actually makes sense. I had a shade cloth 60% over them and last week, it got ripped by the wind so i took it down. I had forgotten about it.

I still have some leftover so tomorrow i'll put it back. Thanks Rick :)

when you "spray" do so at the base of the plant. if you get it on the leaves, and have it in the sun, the spray residue can cause leaf discoloration ...

Hello Stephane, my plants turn in that color when are attacked by spider mites, check below the leaves if there is tiny insects or something like dust, I hope you can understand my English. :)

Could it also have something to do with the amount of fertiliser that's being used? Is it all being given at full strength?

Hi guys. I treated all my plants for spider mites last week and so far so good, im not seeing any activities. I do fertilize at full strength but these 2 are the only ones turning white out of 300 plants. Though I will stop fertilizing and just use water for a while.

Yes, these two do look different, but in the second pic the leaves of at least three others show discolouration surely?

300 plants, wow, what are your long term plans for them? Are they of different varieties?

Hi Gill,

The other plants you see still have their pre winter leaves and i still need to pinch them off. All my adenium have new leaves now, nice and shiny leaves but these 2 just wanted to be different i guess. I just checked again and im not seeing any mites anywhere. Those "white" leaves feel very soft to the touch, not dry at all.

So maybe too much sun and too much fertilizer? Weird part is that these 2 are the only ones affected.

I have 800 plants so far but half of them are still babies in the greenhouse hehe

Here are more pictures but this time, it's under the leaves. I noticed the red color on the edges. So the top of the leaves are turning white, and the bottom turning red.

Hi Stephane, Cynthia may be right. The last photo posted does resemble spider mite issues but I have not seen leaves turn white from spider mites. Maybe others have! In my experience, spider mites give the leaves a sand-blasted appearance & if you rub your fingers over the leaves they can feel slightly gritty. Grab a magnify glass & get a closer look. Are there any really tiny bugs crawling underneath your leaves??? I see you treated for spider mites, so I think more opinions are needed. Rachel :)

I just checked with a magnifying glass in the sun and didn't see anything at all under the leaves. I did spray for spider mites on March 10 so maybe this is the result from it? Only a few have been affected like this, all the others are perfectly fine.

I'm also thinking that Spray'N Grow might be messing up the leaves. Every time I spray, once the leaves dry, you can see lots of residue on them.

The first photo really looks like spider mite to me too. I am wondering if when you sprayed for spider mites they were killed but the damage had already been done.

John, that's what I'm wondering too. I can't remember if it was already like this when I sprayed. If that's the problem, I guess I'll just have to deal with it. As long as it's nothing else, I'm fine with that :)

Stephane, John might be right on point here. If spider mites started the problem then the reddish coloration on leaves is probably just a reaction from the sun on already damaged leaves. I would probably hold off from using anymore sprays on these & wait for new leaves to form. If the new leaves look normal, then you have probably addressed the issue. (Note: probably best to try & keep the ones affected away from your other healthy ones if you can.) Something else I've personally learned about spider mites - they do seem to strike seedlings/plants that are crowded together. More space & airflow around them seems to be better.

Btw, I watched your video. WOW, you have a lot of seedlings growing there. They all look pretty good to me. I wouldn't worry about the few when the rest of them look so good. I see you have some cuttings going too. :) Happy growing.

I'm having fun with those hehe Now I have a place to go to all throughout the day to get away from work (computer). They sure keep me busy when comes watering time lol I'll hold off all fertilizers and just use plain old water for a while.

I got some cuttings going on and they actually have new growth on them. I know the caudex won't look at good as growing from seeds, but I'd like to use those cutting ones for future grafting. That's one thing I've always wanted to try.

I did a grafting on 2 little seedlings. Well they are still 5 months old but for some reasons, they never grew so I used them and tried to "graft/fuse" them together. They started with no leaves and now they have a few so maybe it worked. I'll just have to wait and see but it looks like they healed nicely. I like to try things so if they die, at least I have plenty more to use hehe

Stephane, there seems to be a lot of us growing cuttings & doing experiments with our plants at the moment. Adeniums give us so many options to try & it's just so much fun :) Good luck with yours!

I just use a watering can. One plant at a time lol

Thats alot of work, but well worth it. Im still lucky mine are still very small, easy to water with a spray bottle.

Today one of my cuttings bloomed. With my luck, it's probably the plant saying its last goodbye lol I'm still enjoying it though :)
