Carrara white baseboard trim

The carved marble baseboard trim looks beautiful, but how would you join 2 pieces around a corner (outside corner), and preserve the design? Would you cut a small piece to fit at a 45 degree angle between the 2 pieces meeting at the corner (to soften the edge)?
