I think the lighter taller stools look better but I prefer the darker wood on the shorter stools since it matches your dining table. I don't think you can go wrong with either color, just too bad the darker grey ones don't have a taller back to them.

I like style of chairs w/ loop. In pic from behind they look close to color of Taj Mahal but in pics from front they look like pallor gray. I love Taj Mahal quartzite. I'd look for those chairs w/ color tone more on brown side.

I like the taller stools where you can see the nice button tufting detail in addition to the back hooks

IMO you do not have space for pull out stools I would look for a no back swivel stool to tuck under when not in use

Actually, I agree w/ Jan & Patricia. I didn't suggest that b/c question wasn't yes or no, but which. I have tight space betw. my island & pantry wall, & I don't have room for stools w/ backs. I have cheap temporary wood stools w/ 14" square base. I'm going to replace w/ swivel stools.

Thanks for the input.. the chairs with a back is the 1 thing my hubby wants.. so unlike the rest of the house where I did what I wanted .. this is one of the things I will let him get.. n also his recliner but that still was a Bernhardt leather not the big puffy one he wanted :)

taller one. fits better at the island. If you just do 3 of them, it shouldn't be too bulky.

The floors are hardwood oak.. Mediterranean collection.. Calypso..

Both stools were purchase at Home Goods Nicole Miller brand.. I loved them but they were too bulky because I did not have enough room.. went for the shorter stools..

HI -- Just because you have an island does not mean you have to have stools .... your dining is right there and with the stools it looks very tight .
