Rug question

Hi all, I have an unused rug since I got a new one for the living room. For a few reasons I thought it might be nice to have a rug in the open space between the kitchen and living room. It doesn't look
right to me, but wondering everyone's thoughts, could a different rug work here, or should I just leave it alone?

I prefer it without a rug.

I think the two rugs are clashing. What's the purpose of the rug? Protect the floors, splash of color or just bc you already had it ? I would way out the reason for the rug and make a decision!

I would get rid of the rug. It looks like there should be a table on top of it. You could switch out the plain rug under your sofa with the patterned one, I think that would look good.

I would remove it also. Can you pull the couch back some?

If you could use it in another room or sell it on Craigslist. It would look better without it there.

I would pull the sofa back as mentioned and get a console table for behind it to eat up some of that space. Also, I do like the extra rug a tad better than the one you have in the LR. Maybe swap them out and post another picture if you'd like more advice. You have a lovely space

Is your dining room table going in that space? If not, I would get at least a 12x14 sized rug, bring the sofa back further, and do the sofa table idea. I would definitely make good use of that space for the living area..good luck!
