Victorian Night Stand

In one of our local shops, I found this great Victorian "Night Stand". The table I was using was too big (DH had to push it up against the bed if he wanted to open his closet door. But in the back of my mind was finding a smaller one. Yesterday I found it! I traded table for table!

The old table -- you can see that the door stop is inside the outside edge -- thus the table had to be pushed up against the bed for DH to open his closet fully.

The new table. And I like the fact that there isn't a plethora of books on top -- it can all be put inside!

Earlier this week I was researching a nightstand very similar to yours that was at auction (I didn't win it) & found that it's usually referred to as a 'half commode'. Love the size - now I really want one!

Make sure that its not blocking that air vent. That's part of the heating system. If there is enough space between that stand and vent, it should be ok, and if that is a cold air return, its ok. If that is a heat vent, it will dry out the table.

No, there is plenty of space between the vent and the table.

Only five books? Hardly a plethora...

I just went upstairs and counted. On my wife's side there are fifteen books on the stand, on my side nine. That at least is getting closer to a plethora.

Can't argue about being able to put them inside, but then you can't reach them easily. Hmmmm.

cgard2 -- oh, the five books were AFTER I culled a few days before -- when it gets so I can't see the clock . . . I tend to put the ones I've read away! (or take them back to the library!)
