In Ventura County, California

We had Fuchsia mite here really bad, lots of people gave up. I have one plant, F. "Christmas Gem", a triphyla type, which would get affected very badly. Now it grows fine, and I don't see any mite damage at all. I am wondering if the plants can develop an immunity, if some mite predator has become established, or just what is going on.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar ?
