Carolina Girl, would you like to trade some cuttings for Viking Queen? It is an own root rose with pink flowers, it is a climber and I am putting a new trellis this week, it has out grown the old one and brought it down. I am in South Carlina, up in Chester county. I have not posted here before so I hop I am not breaking any rules. Mary

My own root rose Viking Queen the buds were small at first. They have gotten bigger this year, It is about 3 or 4 years old. I would not say the flowers are ever large, just larger than before.

I'm in zone 5 (so quite a bit colder than you!) but my 5yr old own root Teasing Georgia this spring it is probably 7/8ft tall x 3ft wide. That is after I took off about 2ft of winter dieback. I expect it to be larger by the end of the summer. It is grown on an arbor and has done spectacular! I couldn't be happier with this rose. The flowers are fairly large, not huge but not small either. Once it starts blooming I can post a photo if you like. I got mine bareroot from DA.
