These is what my zone 7 fig tree (buts) look.

While Genoa.

Black Madeira.

Negronne.

Peters Honey.

Brown Turkey.

I wish I knew her or his name (unknown )

Yes have transplanted into bigger pots many times over the years.

You can carefully put plant into bigger pot if you can slip it out of current pot with ease as in most cases when it really needs a bigger pot as the roots are usually tightly wound and will hold rootball together when grown in same pot for a few years.

If you do try it do so when sun is low in sky.

Some soil will fall off thats normal but you do not want the roots to be
broken up when plant is in leaf as it can or will throw plant into
shock.

If its starts to fall apart let it be in same pot for its not yet ready.

If you do go to bigger pot at this time do nothing to the roots but observe how they look, are they tightly would around in a circular pattern? If so the following dormant season they should be rootpruned.

If all goes well backfill the sides tightly with potting mix.

I am in zone 6b or 7a and this is my potted collection.

Picture is about 2 weeks old. Martin, that graft at the bottom is taking of, keep my fingers crossed.

I can't believe that the growth of the figs tree is so behind (not just fig trees) and tomorrow night they call for 20 F I have dad access to garage for my fig trees double garage door is from back alley oh I just wish it would worm up.

The one behind the car looks pretty healthy but pot seams a little small. If you going to up-pot i would go to a wider container, because fig roots go wide. You be surprise when you take a figtree out of a pot. Martin i usely up-pot when the tree is dormant,right?

I just rot pruned all my figs the once in round containers. If you thing that I need to uppot and I just root pruned !? Maby I need to prun more of the canopy ? I can't have them in larger containers. Any suggestions THANKS.

What does the rootball look like, did you shortened the big fat roots. You might want to study the shape of the tree. Your tree's looks too lanky for me. I like short wide tree's, lots of short side branches for maximum production.

The container that i would suggest are wider but not taller, they call them Squat containers.

My fig tree's are in large containers and i do not care about shape because i have the room for them to grow. My inground fruit tree's are very important to me, because they are low maintenance( very old age, me)

Your fig trees look so good that funy or not I look at them a few times a day That should make you happy !

My fig trees look the way they do for several reasons, for example one is tall because in summer I place her behind the bushes roots get enough worms and the top lots of sun (well about 8 h.

The other is wide because the place where she dwells there is not enough space for two figs and to much for one take look

see what I mean ?

And the one behind the car , her place is kind in front of garage these what she look like in summer

Anna Dugo if you root pruned them recently i would suggest leave them in current containers and wait till dormant season if you choose to transplant to another.

Did not know earlier in thread that root pruning was recently done .

Anna, your tree's looking pretty good. It looks like you live in a well protective area with no strong winds to deal with. My area is prone to strong winds so wide containers are beneficial. You are doing great!

Thanks, it is windy here too ! Some fig trees are in heavy containers and on others I put stones
see the stone next to the container !
