Mid grade? Neither product is cheap. Is Emerald or Duration really going to be that much better? I read a lot of people aren't happy with Emerald and multiple SW employees have told me it's not worth he cost.
Among painters, my unscientific online research suggests SuperPaint is the favorite of SW's options.

As mentioned flats are for the most part un washable, you need an eggshell or low luster. If you MUST use SW I would go with the Duration home, Emerald is over rated and over priced( as are all SW products, IMO)

Paint isn't cheap these days, that's for sure, but Cashmere and Super Paint is middle of the road when it comes to their paint lines. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, and I use a lot of Cashmere, just not the flat.

This is an old post but I thought I’d add some comments. I’m not a pro, just a homeowner who has painted the interior of her last three houses with Sherwin Williams. I love their Cashmere paint. I also felt it was soooo much more easy to work with than Superpaint. Recently, because of the pandemic, our local SW dealer was out of Cashmere matte (that I wanted to paint my ceiling with) so they sold me Superpaint matte as an alternative. I felt like it was thicker and far more “gunky” to work with, and the odor was stronger.

The only warning I would give people is to stay away from using Cashmere in high humidity areas (bathrooms). I painted the bathroom in my last house with it and the walls got all weepy. The good news is, I definitely could wash them, but they were low lustre not matte. I also don’t like Emerald but ended up using it in the same bathroom for the ceiling based on my experience with the Cashmere there.

homeowner as well. i love the feel of cashmere. recently with the supply chain issues, i purchased superpaint satin….hate it. it feels like a flat paint. the luster is more like flst also. I understand that superpaint has a primer built in; however as a homeowner….the smell is way stronger!!! Took a day to die down. The touch of cashmire is softer but i now have two guest bedrooms woth superpaint 🙄

Definitely way past the deadline on this discussion but I will add my two cents. I'm 57, owned my own painting and remodeling business for the past 27 years so I would like to think I know what I'm talking about. First off flat paint is not designed to be washable no matter what nonsense is on the can. It's designed to be touched up without any brush or roller marks. Something that can't be done with anything from matte up. If have children use eggshell or matte on the walls or use your head and clean the walls with a magic eraser because it doesn't leave marks on anything. To design nerd although super paint has a slightly stronger odor that has to do with the VOC's in the different formulas. Paint and primer in one simply means it's formulated to adhere to most substrates without primer first. It doesn't mean they dump primer in paint and sell it like that. Sherwin Williams is great paint if you know how to paint, surpassed only by Ben Moore in mainstream products. There's some really good boutique paints but the product is just not worth the price.
