dining chairs for eclectic room

Can you help me pick out some chairs for my dining room? My style is eclectic, I like vintage, MCM, joanna gaines, etc. The chairs can not be upholstered (kids). I am open to any style for the chairs but I have had a hard time figuring out what to get because the table is so heavy visually. Thanks for the advice, houzzers!

what do you think of these? the lean clean lines of mcm let it go well with many more fanciful designs.

They are cool. They might be too dainty for the table? Or do you think it's a good contrast?

The chairs in the top picture are more substantial--check World Market. The bottom pic is chairs from Target. Can't tell if they're upholstered but you might spray them with fabric protector like Scotchguard.

You'll have a tough time finding chairs that can stand up to the weight of the table unless they are upholstered.

i do think it is a good contrast. one thing about mcm is it allows for the most decorative other furnishings. I think it is along the same lines as the white walls in art venues.

Sorry but IMO MCM was all about simplicity of design and I think this space is already too many things going on. Eclectic is great when done with some restraint. I think the table and the sideboard are all wrong scale wise and that is what makes finding chairs hard , there os no place for actual dining chairs to fit with the other chairs in the space . I guess I would look at ghost chairs .

Just because you have kids, you can have upholstered chairs. I don't understand why you think that. Even if only the seat is fabric, you can stain guard them or change out the fabric later. It is very easy.
You want something comfortable for family dining.

I don't know how many you need to seat on the table but if you remove the center leaf the table will be a better scale for the room.

sunnydew, are you saying upholstered chairs are the best fir for the table? i'm open to it if that's the best way to go. i assumed there could be a non upholstered option which would just be less worry for me.

gustaruygers, i do take the center leaf out a lot. that's a good point though.

These match your centerpiece. The table looks taller than normal though.

These could stand up to the table's visual weightiness. Stain them to match the fireplace.

Why don't you look for second hand chairs? They don't even have to match in style since you have such an eclectic look here! Just paint them all the same color for a cohesive look.

The blue buffet is delicate in style and size , your table is large and cluncky and does not IMO work with the buffet and I certainly would not add upholstered parson type chairs to the mix. I like rooms to make sense and I am not sure how having a trunk and 2 armchairs makes sense in this DR . I like the fireplace and if possible i would turn the table so that the long side runs in the same direction as the fireplace and a funkier light fixture would be great. I think the ghost chairs might just be the right thing for a touch of whimsy and a bridge between the 2 scales. Add a really ornate vase to the table in a blue like the buffet with a huge bunch of fresh flowers.

I agree with Patricia that the table should be turned. But I am not bothered by the sideboard; it is a good size and is from the same era as the table. I am more bothered by all the small items however. This is a large room and can handle larger scale accessories! I have added a mirror from that era but you could do a large painting and added different lamps to complement your very lovely rug.

Not a designer, but I wanted to add that I think your room looks really nice. Not sure I understand the two lounge chairs, but it still looks like a warm and inviting space. I also have small kids and didn't want upholstered chairs either. Even if the fabric can be changed, who wants to live with stains until you Reupholster? I like some of the more modern/acrylic chairs that have been suggested.
