Hello, thanks for your interest in the Lucent Single Pendant Light. This is a hardwired fixture. To view our selection of plug-in pendants, please click [here[(https://www.houzz.com/products/plug-in-pendant-lights-prbr1-br~t_610~a_410-13639). I hope this is helpful to you!

Greg, this could be modified by adding a plug if necessary, but it is designed as a hardwired pendant. It doesn't come with any swag hardware.

I'd like to explore modifying it, do you know if this is a service that is offered or was it just a suggested solution?

Hey Greg, here is an idea for how to go about doing this. You will need a way to take the strain out of the cord to hang it safely and you definitely can't just hang it from the plug. http://workabouthouse.com/blog/2014/5/11/how-to-swag-a-pendant-light. This is not a UL solution, but you can check out a lighting parts store to get the correct hardware to do this. It is called a "swag kit" and you'll just need to add a simple plug to the pendant light. Let us know if you'd like to order the lights from us. We don't do the modification because each situation is a little bit unique I think the modification should be fairly straightforward for you to accomplish.
