What is this flower?

I'm located in upstate NY. While walking around my woodlands trying to get a head start on the garlic mustard, I came across a strange looking plant that I've never noticed before.

I think it's super ugly, but so much so that it was interesting. It seems to be a bluish gray as it first sprouts, but turns more green once it's up. The flowers are maroon with yellow centers. The leaves are like creepy dead fingers reaching up.

They're everywhere in this one section of the woods. I'm interested to know what they are and I hope they're not another invasive species. I searched online, but couldn't find them in any lists of woodland flowers.

Any help would be appreciated!
