Well, I'd try the Atlanta Orchid Society which meets once a month at the Atlanta Botanical gardens. I have cymbidums myself and sometimes have divisions available to trade. I'm out near Athens but I get into Atlanta for my AVSA and Orchid society meetings now and then. I-85 collapse will make that interesting. Otherwise I suggest mail order.

The cymbidiums I have extra of are a dwarf orange called Enzan Forest 'Majolica' and I'm mostly interested in other dwarf or mini cyms.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I'm an extremely amateur orchid grower and was looking for some that are still in bloom so that I could enjoy them for a while. I've been reading up on the cymbidium flowering period and it seems that I've missed that window for now.

Yes, mine already bloomed. They start opening about late January for me and go through early to mid March or so. You might still luck out if you keep an eye out at grocery stores and especially Krogers. I've seen quite a few at reasonable prices, even some minis (dwarfs) pop up and sometimes obviously out of the usual season for blooming.

Otherwise mail order is your best bet though likely you will have to wait until next winter to see blooms. There are a few orchid greenhouses in and around Atlanta you should check but I have no idea if any of them grow cymbidiums. Be nice if they did because zone 8 or warmer you can grow them outside in sheltered locations. Especially along walls that get sunny in winter. Mine however are potted and are indoors only in winter, along with the rest of my orchids (mostly catleya).

There is also supposed to be an orchid group that meets at the Athens Botanical Garden once a month but I have had a devil of a time getting them to reply to my emails or Facebook messages to confirm days and times. They seem mostly inactive.

I've found the same thing regarding the Athens group of orchid growers. Reached out a few years ago and never got a reply. I assumed they were inactive as well.

Do you have any tips for getting the cyms to rebloom? I've read that they need to get some nighttime cold in the late fall early winter in order to do so but I'm not sure how to accomplish that for the one plant that I do have. Was considering planting it outside.

Yes, a drop in temperatures will do it. As all of mine are potted, I have them out on my back deck in the shade of a huge oak tree from spring until autumn. I only have my orchids indoors in the winter. In Georgia they love the outdoor heat and humidity and while some people think cymbidiums are not heat tolerant, mine sure seem to thrive in it.

So the easiest suggestion is to just toss them outside somewhere shady, raised off the ground to help discourage slugs and snails. Water and lightly feed them now and then if it hasn't rained for a while, but otherwise forget about them until autumn. I do watch out for heavy rains that last for days at a time though (tropical storms, hurricanes). I'll stick mine under the eaves of the house in that case or they can rot.

Wow, lot of rain right now. I pulled all my flats of orchid pots and hangers in out of the rain under my eaves, but I left everything outside that isn't in bloom. I bring my bloomers (like my Phals) inside to enjoy the flowers so they aren't messed up by rain or bugs. Also, my tree rats (squirrels) are awful about eating the flowers if I leave them out in bloom.
