Transplant later on this fall

Planted a limelight tree last summer. It turns out it's a touche too low......

Anyhow, it's budding nicely on all the branches at this time. Should/Can I I dig it up to raise it a smigen or wait till late fall ?

having no clue where you are.. and not knowing what the current status of the tree is.. since no pic ... then we really cant give any pertinent suggestions ...

ps: i wouldnt bother moving anything for a smidgen.. but then.. i dont know what you mean by a smidgen ...

Best disturbed when leafless so it doesn't wilt and shrivel.

Planted it about 1 1/2 inch above grade last year. That was just from the pot depth . In checking it this year, some adventitious roots were above the surface this year . Decided to just dig a bit around the stem it looks like possibly the tree was a bit too deep in the pot ?

I was thinking of literally just raising it another 2 inches or so.
