Acer Plamatum: many need sun to part sun particularly for the red colors... depending on the intensity of the sun in your zone. I believe all of these fall with your zone 5. If you have intense sun then more shade is needed.

Acer Plamatum 'Sherwood Elfin'- thin red leaves turning darker in the Fall. 10 yr height 3ft.

Acer Plamatum 'Shaina'- compact and bushy form pink-red new leaves, dark red older leaves, Fall leaves are fire red. 10 yr height 3 ft.

Acer Plamatum 'Red Spider Web' - Weeping form, bright reds on lace leaf 10 yr height is 2 ft.
