Moving irises to a new house

I dug up my irises and put them in boxes with peat moss in the fall thinking I would be moving over the winter. It turned out that we didn't move until now. When should I plant the irises? Can I put them in the ground now or should I wait until the fall? Thanks!

You can do it now. It will likely affect blooming next spring but will get back in sync the following season. Personally, I transplant when I can, which may or may not be optimum for plant. Once I even moved a plant right in the middle of blooming, and it made no diff. the next year.
