I like it -- a great statement piece, but it might look better if pulled closer to the door.

Thanks, the reason it's kinda floating was because it was centered with the light fixture, does that matter?

I usually love graphic patterns, but for some reason, this one is making my eyes hurt a little. However, having said that, I think the black and white/cream "goes" with the floor. If you're centering it under the light, are you also anticipating putting a round table on top? If so, then swapping out the ceiling light for a chandelier might just "make" the space.

Thanks, I'm not set on the rug and can easily return it, I wanted a bit of a statement peice something interesting for the entrance. As far as a round table, the plan was to get one a couple of years from now when the kids are a bit older, so no table for now. What would you suggest for the space? Is a rectangular shape better?

I agree with moving it closer to the door, I don't see any reason why it needs to be centered under the light. It is really fun and pulls in the black elements from the surrounding rooms. A small circular table in the center would be pretty great though, especially since it doesn't look like you have any sort of "drop zone". Maybe while the kids are young do something like this:

I know my little ones would love a little round chair to play on and sit to put boots on etc. and who can't use more storage?

Would you keep this eye hurting pattern without the table?!

It is very dramatic...but sort of out of sync with the finer elements and details in view of the front door...also the entry way traditionally needs a lower pile and good quality ...something that lives up to the big foyer feel..also is there any concern for privacy?..perhaps some drapes to match the new rug?

I think it might just be my eyes or my monitor... so keep that in mind. :) But, if you're not going to have a table, this rug will get a lot of wear from outside traffic -- mud, rain, snow, grass. If you got a smaller pattern, still in black and white, it might hide the "traffic dirt" you'll undoubtably pick up because it's near the front door.

I do not think the rug should be confused with a doormat...it should be centered....With a narrow runner the width of the door...also the drama will work if you have graphic ..striking ..art...and a splashier decor to balance the drama of the rug...

The rug is a great start; now for the chandy and table! Then add something interesting to the table top.
