Help with TV Wall!

Suggestions on how to decorate this TV wall. Part of the problem is that the wall to the right has the fireplace so that is kind of a focal point. The TV can’t be above the fireplace because the mantle is too high to comfortably watch TV, and it is better viewing for the rest of the open concept room. The ceiling is 10’.
What do you think? I don’t want it to be too busy with too much art and/or knickknacks. Would appreciate any ideas.

I’d let the fireplace remain the decorative focal point and make the TV wall the quiet one. In your photo, the low white cabinet already gives the screen a base, while the doorway on the left and fireplace on the right make tall shelves or a gallery wall feel crowded. I’d align the TV with that cabinet and the main viewing seat, hide the visible cords, and keep just one or two low objects on the cabinet. If you want a cleaner line, you could mount the TV only a little above the cabinet—there’s no need to fill the height of a 10-foot wall. Before mounting, tape out the screen position and check it from your usual seats. The empty space above it is doing useful work here; I wouldn’t add art around the TV just because the wall is tall.

Thank you for your input. I have been hesitant to over decorate this wall because it seems to me like the fireplace wall should be the focus, but it’s good to hear another opinion.

I think what you have is nice. It just needs a few touches to liven it up. I’d replace the mirror above mantle to a print for added color there. Add some greenery and decor. Add draperies to the windows.

You could think about replacing the ceiling fan with a natural stain instead of the white.

Wow! That looks great! Thanks for your suggestions! That really helped me to visualize a better room.

Can you share the link to that ceiling fan? I love it!

Emily had excellent advice. In addition I would get a new table for under the tvm (lower and darker) and lower the tv to the ideal viewing height (center at 42" above floor)

I've made some adjustments to the room.

I've changed the ceiling fan to a finish that I think better goes with the room.

I've added drapery panels to the windows and turned the mirror to be vertical instead of horizontal which works best with the tall ceilings

IMO the room could benefit from a larger TV screen for the room.

I would mount the TV on the wall at eye level and move the sofa facing the TV to separate the dining space from the living space with the (under TV credenza behind the sofa, useful for the dining side) the two occasional chairs where the sofa is now, to lighten up the space.

Hang a framed piece of art over the mantel instead of a mirror (you aren't reflecting anything great)

Thanks for everyone’s input! It’s great to get new suggestions. As far as moving the credenza and couch to separate the dining area…there isn’t room for the credenza in that area. It is a small room. My husband wants his chair directly opposite the TV also.
I like the suggestion about replacing the mirror with a print. I will work on that!

My sister and brother in law lived in an assisted living apartment for a few years. The living room was tiny. They were both most comfortable in their recliners, so the two recliners were placed on one wall and a small sofa was on the opposite wall with the TV hung above the sofa. When they had guests, guests had a place to sit and the TV would be turned off. When it was the two of them they were able to recline and watch TV.

The TV was higher than the "ideal" viewing height, but that "ideal" is based on an upright seated position. Ideal for a reclined positon is higher and was comfortable for them to watch.

My point is, that your television and seating arrangement should be what works best for the people who use the room.

For the spot over the mantel, a vertical 24x36 is the size I'd hang. With 10-foot ceilings and a window on each side, a portrait piece fills the space the mirror holds now and carries the eye up, so the fireplace stays the focal point and the TV wall stays quiet. Hang the bottom edge about 6 inches above the mantel shelf. Something with distance in it, like water or a tree line, ties it to the view out those windows. If you want, send me a photo of that wall straight on and I'll tell you the one print I'd hang there.

I’d mount the TV on the wall a little higher than it sits now, while keeping it comfortable to watch. That would help fill the wall without adding extra artwork around it. I’d clear the small accessories off the cabinet and place one beautiful statement porcelain vase to the side of the screen.

The Chinese dragon-and-phoenix porcelain vase featured in my video would be a lovely option here: https://youtu.be/PoZYuVMbVXQ. The link to the vase is in the video description.

By the window, I’d replace the current plant with a taller, fuller one reaching slightly above the midpoint of the window. On the other side of the fireplace, an interesting open shelving unit could balance the greenery and give that corner some character. I’d leave plenty of breathing room on the shelves so the room still feels calm.

This is off topic a bit but the thing that struck me first is there are too many chairs in your room. It's making the space look cluttered and off balanced.
